Whitehall-Parker(“WP”) was born of tragic circumstances. The original staff of the firm formed WP after the 40+ year run of their former broker/dealer(Whitehall-Parker Securities, Inc.) in the San Francisco Bay Area. The owner and the secondary principal of that firm both died from cancer at relatively young ages. We are forever thankful for their great generosity and for the standards they set. The firm now performs all of its securities work through Emerson Equity LLC(Member FINRA/SIPC).
All WP representatives bring significant industry experience in providing advice to our clients. Many of our representatives are devoted to helping our clients build and maintain investment portfolios, drawing from a large variety of investment products and services. And with the substantial real estate experience within our staff, WP representatives have earned great respect for their expertise in assisting clients with securitized section 1031 real estate exchanges.

Dan Pisenti formed Whitehall-Parker with the advice and consent of the Management Team. Dan served as the president of the former broker/dealer(Whitehall-Parker Securities, Inc.) for fifteen years from 1991 to 2006. He continued with the broker/dealer for a total of 32 years, assisting the firm with its financial reporting, due diligence, and compliance, as well as serving his own clients. With a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the business school at the University of California, Berkeley, Dan previously worked as a CPA in the audit and tax departments of Arthur Andersen & Co.(formerly a Big 8 Accounting Firm), specializing in real estate and financial clients. For the last 35+ years he has been active in various roles in the securities industry. Dan is both a registered representative and investment advisory representative, maintaining Series 7, 22, 24, 39, 63, and 66 securities licenses and a California Insurance License. He has been assisting clients and the firm with securitized real estate exchanges since 2003.

Ken Zupo graduated from San Jose State University with a degree in Finance and Economics. He entered the securities industry in 2001 as a registered representative with Morgan Stanley. He currently maintains Series 7, 31, 63, and 66 securities licenses and a California Insurance License. Ken specializes in alternative investments, having assisted Whitehall-Parker Securities, Inc. with its investment due diligence since 2009. He is active with and well-known among securities issuers for his efforts to bring about efficient and effective investment structures that benefit client accounts.

Thomas Downey has spent a career in the investment real estate field and in the securities industry. In 1976 he formed Affinity Real Properties, which is a real estate brokerage and property management firm that he continues to own and manage. He joined the securities industry in 1985 and currently maintains Series 6, 7, 22, 24, and 63 securities licenses. Thom’s practice is focused on tax-deferred exchanges, DSTs, and alternative investments. He and his family are based in the San Diego, CA area.

For over 50 years, Gary Hancock has conducted in-depth economic analyses to guide his clients’ real estate investment, development, and management decisions. He has been a licensed Realtor since 1972, began real estate syndication in 1981, and received his Series 22 and 63 securities licenses in 2003. Gary has successfully guided clients through real estate market cycles as owner of Hancock Investment Real Estate, which he founded in 1988 in Sacramento. In addition, he developed, built, and managed his own properties. An industrial engineer by training, Gary honed his analysis skills during a 14-year career at McDonnell Douglas in Southern California. He brings the ability to analyze budgets, determine financial feasibility, measure pay-back, and conduct trend analysis in conducting 1031 exchange reviews. Throughout his career, Gary has given back to the industry as a founding member of the Tenant in Common Association(TICA), board member and trainer for the National Association of Investment Consultants (NAIC), trainer for the National Council of Exchangers (NCE), and member of the Sacramento Real Estate Exchange Group. For many years he was a real estate instructor over a wide variety of topics for the Anthony School of Real Estate and Sierra College. He is a recipient of the Rotary Paul Harris Fellowship Award, president of a private foundation, and member of the Advisory Council for the Salvation Army Sacramento Adult Rehabilitation program.

A graduate of the University of New Mexico and a Navy veteran, Terry Shea has been assisting his clients with their securitized 1031 exchanges for over 20 years. Terry and his wife Rosemary have been happily married for 48 years and have two lovely daughters. Terri is a California native and an ocean lover who enjoys regularly making trips to Kauai. He particularly enjoys working with farm and ranch people through his securities licensing in five (5) western states. He has a farm family background and is a member of the American Pistachio Growers Association. He currently maintains Series 22 and 63 securities licenses.

Tom Velken has more than 30 years of experience with acquisition, development, and finance in commercial and residential real estate. During Tom’s tenure at Catellus Development Corporation, he was responsible for all levels of financial analysis of corporate real estate holdings totaling 2 million acres of improved and unimproved land worth $2.7 billion. Tom was also a Senior Financial Analyst at Cushman & Wakefield. He has been active in the Tenant in Common(TIC) and Delaware Statutory Trust (DST) “co-ownership” market since 2003 and has helped hundreds of clients with tax deferred exchange related transactions. Tom holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California, Berkeley and has continued coursework in real estate investment analysis, corporate finance, and macroeconomics.

Robert Zink graduated from the University of Oregon with a degree in Economics. Robert is married with three adult children. He has a real estate license as well as Series 22 and 63 securities licenses. Robert has been active in all phases of investment real estate for over 35 years, including sales, development, and management. He is a 30-year member and past president of the nation’s most prestigious real estate exchange group, The Society of Exchange Counselors. Today Robert enjoys assisting real estate investors with their exchanges out of actively managed real estate into real estate investments requiring minimal management involvement via the Delaware Statutory Trust investment structure.
